Guidance

Navigating secondary school placement is not an easy task.  The Head of School, Vice Principal, and teachers at Mendham Country Day School will work together with you and your child to make the process a little easier.  We are knowledgeable of the application process, as well as knowing what secondary schools are looking for in students.  We will ensure your child gets accepted to a school that is the perfect fit for his or her individual needs.

Choosing the right school for 9th grade is an important task for all Mendham Country Day School 8th grade students and their families. It requires much energy on everyone's part, and ultimately it can be a rewarding experience for families. Just like the decision to choose Mendham Country Day School, the decision regarding secondary school is a decision that will undoubtedly affect your child for the rest of his or her life.

Children moving from primary to secondary schools take a major step towards joining the outside world. It is exciting as well as daunting, and we at Mendham Country Day School realize the importance of this educational process. Placing students in secondary schools is a process that requires planning , cooperation and consultation.

The goal of our placement program is to find a secondary school that best suits a child's interest and aspirations, and offers the opportunity to continue the growth and development that he or she has experienced at Mendham. The process of finding a school best suited for each student usually begins in the 7th grade year and continues until the student is placed.

Throughout the entire the process, families work primarily with the Vice Principal. The Vice Principal will also help families through most of the paperwork and testing and is always available by phone, by email or in person. The Head of School will meet with the families in September to discuss the 8th grade year and the admissions process for 9th grade.
