Academics and Enrichment
We offer an academically outstanding curriculum individually tailored to encourage acceleration in areas of a child’s strengths and to assure that each child meets the challenge posed by the academic program.
Reading, writing and arithmetic are the foundation of the education of each child at MCDS. Children are required to prepare and present book reports and challenge themselves in math and science. The global framework of education is reflected in strong emphasis as the basis of study for each subject including social studies and history.
Recognizing that technology is an important aspect of our world, we encourage children to undertake academic exercises through the use of computers at home, while in the classroom, the emphasis is on critical thinking and fundamental methods of communication at the highest levels.
Starting at the earliest level children begin to study Spanish through play, at first, and traditional methods as they mature. Children are also exposed to Mandarin with the understanding that we live in a highly integrated international culture and each child needs exposure to these concepts.
Children dive deeply into their academic subject matter and prepare presentations that are delivered to their classmates. These projects are done with pen and paper, pencils and paints.
Children are required to master fundamental skills using traditional, tried and proven methods.
