Mission & Philosophy

“This school has been an amazing experience for me. I was there for 9 years and they helped me every step of the way.” -MCDS Alumni

Our mission is to prepare students intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally, and aesthetically to participate in a changing and increasingly complex society. We seek to develop each child’s intellectual abilities in a nurturing environment. To this end, we offer an academically challenging program in a non-competitive school climate.  Our students are encouraged to achieve academic excellence through the development of intellectual curiosity, personal accountability, and love for learning.

Our purpose is to prepare students to achieve academically at a level which is commensurate with their abilities. Through traditional curriculum, we seek to enable students to be successful in high school and beyond. Our students learn to honor individuality, embrace diversity, and promote leadership and service through active, positive, and mutually respectful interaction among their peers and teachers.

We place great value on character, morality, and respect. Character education is approached comprehensively to include the emotional, intellectual and moral qualities of a child, as well as those around them. Our Character Education Curriculum offers multiple opportunities for students to learn about, discuss, and enact positive social behaviors.  Character education formally starts in pre-kindergarten and becomes part of the daily schedule in Early Kindergarten. Our goal is to instill values and morals in all our students.
